Training

First Aid for Mental Health Training

FAMH is a skills-based course that teaches participants about mental health issues, how to recognise signs and symptoms, the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health issue or experiencing a crisis. Participants will learn how and where to seek help, when needed.

Many people know how to help if they saw someone experiencing a physical health emergency, but when it comes to mental health, are hesitant to respond due to fear and/or a lack of skills. When equipped with the right tools, mental health first aiders can start dialogue and even save lives.
