Minds Matter offers First Aid for Mental Health (FAMH) training to raise awareness and develop skills. The training will develop understanding of mental health and how people can look after their own and others’ well-being.  As with physical health, we all have mental health. The FAMH training will:
  • Understand what is mental health and what good mental health looks like
  • Look at the language used when talking about mental health and challenge the stigma associated to the social constructs around us
  • Look at the different factors that affect mental health
  • Provide the skills needed to look after your own and others’ mental health and prevent mental health deterioration
  • Teach about mental health conditions and how to recognise mental ill health in yourself and others
  • Teach how to intervene when noticing mental health deterioration or during a crisis situation, offer reassurance, communicate and signpost to appropriate services for ongoing support and treatment
  • Explain recovery from mental illness and moving forward
To book FAMH training, visit the training page.

We all have mental health!  FAMH training is for everyone, including:

  • Parents
  • Human resources professionals
  • Managers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Business owners
  • For anyone who would like to learn more about mental health
  • Those who support a loved one with a mental illness
  • Schools, universities and educators
  • Public sector professionals

You can book a course by visiting our course list and select a date that suits you.  Alternative dates are available for organisations that would like to train 6 or more people at a time.

The money you pay to attend a course will help the Instructor Member cover their costs such as venue hire, travel and course materials. Every course you book supports the next generation’s mental health. The money made also goes into making sure all courses meet the quality standards, keeping the content up to date and creating new courses to reach more people. Costs vary according to the type of course:
    • First Aid for Mental Health Awareness is over 4 hours at a cost of AED 450
    • First Aid for Mental Health (Adults)  is over 6 hours at a cost of AED 700
    • First Aid for Mental Health (Young People)  is over 6 hours at a cost of AED 700
    • Supervising First Aid for Mental Health is 10 hours, split over 2 days at a cost of AED 1,000
At the end of your course, you will get a certificate to say you are a First Aider in Mental Health (Level 3), a Mental Health Champion (Level 2) or Mental Health Aware (Level 1).
The courses are available in English only at this time.

It is recommended that you take a refresher course every 3 years to renew skills, update knowledge of mental health supports and practice applying the FAMH action plan.

Whilst the accredited First Aid for Mental Health training cannot be altered, separate training can be tailored to suit your organisation’s needs.  Please get in touch to talk about your needs.
